We went to wellington for a show. This hotel is clean and tidy. It is very handy to the wellington city centre. The staff were helpfull and the art work in the lobby was great.

The butter portions on the breakfast table was stingy and the waitress a bit grumpy when we asked for more.

              • Group of friends
                8.0

Interesting hotel theme with a great location and comfortable rooms

We were unable to get the television or stereo to work, so called down to reception. They said a "valet" would be up straight away, but no one ever showed. We mentioned this problem the next day when we checked-out but the woman at reception seemed unconcerned.

              • Older travelers
                7.4

Liked the whole atmosphere, the art work, the very friendly and pleasant staff at all levels and the restaurant was excellent.

The room at night was too warm and the air conditioning unit too noisy for a good nights sleep.

              • Older travelers
                9.2

Loved the interior design - specifically artwork

Pool was too far away from normal rooms - don't want to walk thru lobby in robe or togs

We enjoyed the convenience of the location, it was handy to bars, restaurants, and shops, and was within walking distance of public transport. We also enjoyed the fitness equipment it was modern and in good condition.

It would have been nice to be advised before hand that the restaurant downstairs was closed, and when we entered our room it was nice to get a Easter egg and a bottle of water, however there was two of us in the room.

The location and art in the Hotel, fact that you could park your car outside hotel. Internet working.

When we got there after 1 in the morning after been traveling for 28 hours we did not feel very welcome. I did let them know that we were coming so late, and experienced booking in not nice. Our room were not properly cleaned every day- we forgot the bath water in one morning. They did not even pull the plug!!! Old newspapers were left on a pile. We also got the smallest room possible - a friend of ours stayed their for 2 nights same rate and his room was double our room size. We were their for 7 nights. I would rate the hotel for it's looks but not for good value!!!!!! Nice to have the coffee machine in the lobby but half the time the beans were finished or out of water.

I like Museum hotel very much. It's a luxury hotel and made me relaxable. Even the price more expensive than other hotel, but it's still valueable.

Loved the art work and the whole entrance was very special.

We thought considering the caliber of the rest of the hotel, the bathrooms could do with an update especially the bath/shower and tiles.

I was attending a conference at Te Papa Museum across the street from Museum Hotel and the location couldn't be more convenient.

I did not spend much time at the hotel so it turned out to be much more expensive than what I needed, which was just a place walking distance from Te Papa Museum. I did not need the restaurant or bar, and did not have time to use the pool or fitness room. My room, which fronted the main road, was a bit noisy at times when emergency vehicles went by with sirens blaring. The Museum Hotel is classy but overpriced, in my opinion.

The room was expensive for the size and standard of fittings and services. Had a worn feel about it

                The room upgrade

Our experience was unsatisfactory. Although they gave us an upgrade, the room aircondiitoning did not work at first, then after attention ,was over heated. The hotel did not have a budget bistro or cafe, and the wine in the restaurant was overpriced, and the menu had no vegetarian option. The waiter said the chef could make me something, but I don't think that is satisfactory considering they promote the restaurant as "fine dining" . .We ate in our room and drank our own wine. The cheese plate was overpriced, and a very small portion at $25. Also, there was a survey from another guest dated some weeks earlier which had not been removed, and that person was also highly critical of the restaurant.
